Tina and Marshal Partnoy January 24, 2026 01:08 AM
My sister Marlene and Fern shared a truly special friendship—one rooted in years of shared life, laughter, and history. The Taubs lived in the very first house on Newbury Lane, and my childhood bedroom looked out over their driveway, where the Taub kids and my sister Marlene were always playing. I still remember countless days yelling out my window for them to quiet down because I was trying to study. Those sounds are now memories I wish I could hear again. Libby, Arthur, Fern’s sisters, brother, and her children—our hearts are with you. This has been a long, exhausting, and painful battle, and there is no minimizing that loss. My hope is that, with time, the weight of grief will slowly give way to the countless beautiful memories you hold of Fern. She was a remarkable woman—beautiful inside and out—and her warmth, laughter, generosity, strength, and presence will never be forgotten

Aimee Walton January 23, 2026 09:02 AM
Fern was a force of nature. I know that she’s been gone in mind for a long time, but this one hits a little bit differently for me for some reason. So many of my childhood memories are from the Shapero house. Fern was the glue that kept that house together. Everyone was welcome. Everyone was family. Everyone had a nickname (Aimee MOOO). Everyone was welcome to the $20s in her purse. Everyone got Dante‘s subways, ICHIBAN sushi & muscles. There were Super Bowl parties, pre-prom and so much more. She was always up for a coffee run to Second Cup and when we were old enough to drive, she threw us the keys to the Jeep or SLT. I probably wouldn’t have known what the Eaton Centre was in school if wasn’t for Fern, driving us down and driving home on the DVP like a mental case weaving in and out of the lanes. I cannot express enough that her memory will be alive in so many of our hearts because of how she organically was to all of her children’s friends in those special years that are likely never going to be replicated. I hope she is in heaven drinking white French table wine , lying on the couch, and of course yelling at Rebecca not to be a BI$H. Hugs to all. So sad that we lost Fern.
Brian Kirsh January 23, 2026 08:59 AM

Auntie Fern, you were larger than life, your booming voice, your beautiful smile and sparkling eyes always lit up a room. You made everyone feel special, if you ran into our kids somewhere you’d give them cash for no reason, just because, that was you. The seder sweet table was legendary, so overflowing you had to send everyone home with loot bags. Every family event was over the top. You were the epitome of a bulabusta, our family role model. The Taubs became an extension of the Shapero family, with Libby the amazing matriarch setting the standard. Our hearts are heavy for all of you. You were taken from everyone too soon but your sparkle and the amazing example you set will live in our hearts forever.

To the Shapero & Taub Families - please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Fern. Fern endured so much while suffering from this horrible disease. I have fond memories of time spent with Fern in the earlier days. Fern was always warm and welcoming to me and my family. I remember her as a great Bubbie, a special Aunt to her nephews and nieces, and somebody who was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. In my mind, I picture Fern surrounded by her many friends at the weddings and barbat mitzvahs I attended with her. She was a lot of fun, the life of the party and she truly enjoyed a Simcha! May all the good memories carry you through this difficult time. Thinking about you and sending support, love and strength. Fern will be missed and fondly remembered.
