Dear Handler Family, We have very fond memories of time we spent with Herb & Sandy at Tent City walking, sitting and sharing stories & enjoying each others company during many summers at Lake Simcoe. Sandra was a wonderful neighbour for more than 30 years—kind, warm, and always so considerate. We remember her walking to get groceries, stopping by to say hello as she passed by our home. She was also so thoughtful - she gifted our grandchildren little things over the years. We couldn''t have asked for a better neighbour and she will be greatly missed.

I was not so familiar with Sandra Handler (living far, in Paris), but the few times I saw her were enough for discovering her elegant personnality. Memorable Shabbats spent at the familial table are in my heart forever. Mostly, I feel so close with Jeff that he is so to speak my brother. I visit his family so regularly since few decades, that Sandi was so to speak part of my family. Jeff gave me regular news. So I feel her passaway with personal feelings. All my support for Jeff, Resa, Randi and their beautiful family.

A gentle, gracious, and generous lady, Sandra was extremely involved at our JCC for years, both as a participant and as a volunteer. She was a member of our New Ideas Committee, a Yom HaShoah program sponsor, always willing to lend a hand at special events, and she especially enjoyed our Thursday lectures, Jewish holiday celebrations and concerts. She will be dearly missed by many in our community, and by me. Honour to her memory.

I remember on my last visit she showed me some of her treasured art and glass collection, you could see the sparkle and delight in her eyes and voice as she described the pieces. Dear Risa and all of the Handler family, I am so sorry to hear of your mothers’ passing. She was a very special woman who was always friendly, eager and interested in talking and getting to know Risa’s friends. Having known her since I was a teenager, coming over to visit Risa was something I looked forward to as I not only got to visit my friend but also enjoyed the opportunities to chat with her mom who would greet me with such a warm smile and ask all about things and offer supportive words or creative ideas. She was a supportive, caring, dynamic, funny and artsy woman who was a life long learner with a positive outlook. I love that my last memory of her healthy was seeing her and Risa in the audience at one of my music shows, cheering me on. She loved music! Sandra will be greatly missed and Risa, she was so lucky to have you by her side daily to ensure her comfort and make her last days as comfortable as she could be.
