To Eileen and family,
Saddened to hear of Mel''s (zl) passing. Although we haven''t seen you and your family in a while, I have wonderful memories of our family gatherings from times past. We also also recall being a dental patient early in Mel''s practise. He was kind, considerate and a genuine mensh. At this painful stage in your lives, may you be strengthened by the memories of Mel zl and the positive effect he had on so many people. May Hashem grant you the strength to meet all of the upcoming challenges you face.

Dear Eileen,
It saddens me to hear about the loss of Mel. Growing up knowing Mel as not only the dentist but the golfer. He definitely made the time I spent learning to golf with dad a lot more fun. And I know dad loved him so much. Thinking of you and sending our love.

Dear family,
I was 15 when the Cantar family moved from Hamilton to Burlington, and one of the best things about that move was having our dental care under Dr. Mel. I continued personally with Dr. Mel until his retirement, another 40+ years later, never bothered about the long drive in for most of those years, considering we were both driving in from either Toronto or Thornhill!
I knew all of the Cohen meshpucha through his proud tales of each of you told at every appointment. I am not sure if a husband could have ever been more in love with his wife, nor a father could be more in love with his children and grandchildren. I knew where the ease of his delight in speaking of his family came from; his mother''s broad smile, beaming each time I came into the bakery, telecasting to any other bakery patron that I could be grateful to her son-the-dentist for mine!
May you all know the comfort of treasured memories, and may Mel''s name be forever a blessing.

Dear Eileen and Family:
We were devastated to hear about Mel’s recent passing. We know it has been a very difficult two years since he began having medical problems and fought so valiantly. He was such a dignified, generous, sensitive and caring person, who, as they said today at the funeral, only spoke when he had something to say. When he did, it was meaningful, helpful and respected. He also had a wry sense of humour which was always appreciated as was his friendly and affable demeanor. His athletic ability was beyond incredible as was constantly witnessed over the last 15 plus years when he played in the JNF Golf Tournaments with the Boys and due to his personal contributions.
Our sincerest condolences to you and each member of your family. Your children and grandchildren spoke very eloquently and with great love and tenderness. Mel would be so proud. May his memories be a blessing.
Fondly, Marvin & Judy Demone

Eileen and Mel have been virtually our closest friends for many decades. Eileen and Jackie’s friendship goes back to when they were in kindergarten together. Dear Eileen. We were so saddened to hear about Mel''s passing. I am so grateful for all the wonderful times that I got to share with him on the golf course. Watching him kibbitz with Fred and Harvey was something that taught me what life is about. He had such a wonderful zest for life and thankfully he had many years where he was the only real athlete in the group. The bond that we saw between you and him was another lesson that we learned. What a life well lived by a true Mensch!! We love you and hope that you can anker your thoughts in all the wonderful times that you shared. We will always remember Mel with the fondness he deserves!!

May the memories you have of Mel fill you with joy. Time has passed but your family was such a big part of our lives, and so many fantastic memories. I''m sure he''ll be on the court and the golf course with Butch soon. Our thoughts are with you all. Love, Rich

Aileen
There are no words today. Mel and I go back to kindergarten in 1945 to dinners in 2025 with Aileen, ( Borochov School 1948-9 to 1952) and Jackie & Freddy Yack. I recall with deep affection many fond memories from our youth.
Mel was always a great athlete and an even greater friend to all.
He is and always will be sorely missed
