As I watched and listened to the wonderful eulogies by the girls and grandkids, I was swept back to the times when our families were together whether up north, doing a musical in Dollard, and when I worked over the Christmas holidays in the stores. What wonderful times filled with song, laughter and love. We leased our first car with Leonard as well. A mensch! On behalf of all the Newmans, I am sending love and hugs to you all. Leonard will truly be missed. David

I first met Leonard when Elaine introduced me to her parents. I really expected to see a look of astonishment on his face since I was a year older than him and much older than Elaine. That did not happen. He was warm and friendly and accepting. When Elaine and I got married both Leonard and Edith graciously welcomed me as part of the family. Leonard only wanted to know if I was going to call him dad since he was my father in law. In all the years since he was the best father in law one could ask for. I will miss him.

Dear Edith, Elaine, Heidi, and Michele,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Uncle Leonard’s passing. Please accept our heartfelt condolences as you mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend as we all say goodbye to a man who meant so much to so many.
Uncle Leonard was one of the kindest and gentlest souls I have known. He had a quiet warmth about him that made everyone feel welcome and at ease, and his presence left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know him. Growing up, my memories of time spent with him — at the country house and especially through his toy store — are among my fondest. It was through his toy store that he sparked in me a love of model building, a hobby I continue to enjoy to this day. That gift, like so many others he gave so freely, has stayed with me for a lifetime. His generosity of spirit, his patience, and his gentle encouragement are memories I treasure.
May the many beautiful memories you share — of laughter, love, and time spent together — continue to bring you comfort and even moments of joy in the days ahead. May Uncle Leonard’s memory be for a blessing, and may it live on through the stories we tell, the traditions we carry forward, and the love he instilled in all.
With our love and deepest sympathy...
BDH

Elaine, Heidi, Michelle, and dear Shirley, it''s not enough to write May his memory be blessed and loved. Since my mother''s side of the family was so small, you guys have always been so special to me. I loved those trips to the pool from Poplar road (I never really got used to Rand) and of course Pioneer Path. I spent my last days in Canada there and you welcomed my family there 20 years later for such a lovely day. I fondly remember those visits to the Toy Store in CdN (I have a picture in my mind of Auntie Fanny there too) and then PileouFace. Leonard was lucky to be a big kid for so long and then when he grew up, to play with cars. I remember how close and loving he was with his girls, I''m sure he was a wonderful zaydie too. I wish I could be there to hug you in person. May you know no further sorrow 🙏❤️

I had the pleasure of meeting Leonard in the first month of our Recollectiv program. His smile always light up the room, and it was clear that he loved the music we were playing and singing along to. I''m so glad I had the good fortune to sing with him, first in person and then online. Such a sweet, kind man. My sincere condolences to Edith and the whole family. My heart goes out to you all.
