Dear family of Karina, I met Karina in September of 2024'' as a fellow student in the University of Toronto GPLLM program. She was an cheerful and good fellow classmate. (I had no hint of the cancer battle she was fighting). May she rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.
Hadjira Saadaoui January 19, 2026 03:57 PM

Melanie Wolicki January 17, 2026 10:06 PM
Echoing what others have already written, having recently learned of Karina’s passing, and the health challenges she courageously faced, I am humbled by the warmth, curiosity, and generosity she showed me and our fellow classmates in the GPLLM Program despite everything she was going through. My deepest condolences to her daughters, her family and friends. My heart breaks for you. I wish you comfort and peace in the days ahead.
Muddasir Hossain January 15, 2026 05:26 PM
I was fortunate to have met Karina at the University of Toronto, and I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She was truly an inspiration to us all—her strength and resilience were exemplary, and her unwavering spirit will always be remembered. Much of what Karina shared when she introduced herself in class now resonates even more profoundly in light of this tragic loss. She brought thoughtfulness and depth to every discussion. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Karina’s family and her close friends during this incredibly difficult time.
Kimberly McIntosh January 15, 2026 09:08 AM
I was so saddened to hear about Karina. We connected during the GPLLM program and I immediately looked up to her. She had a rare mix of qualities—she was clever, funny, honest, brave and always so kind and considered. Her advice to me, both professionally and as a new mom, was priceless. She will never stop being a role model for me. I will always look up to her and I’ll never forget her. Thinking of your family.
Natia Esartia January 15, 2026 08:26 AM
To Karina''s family, please accept my deepest condolences on your unimaginable loss. To her beautiful children: your mother was one of the strongest people I have ever met. She was a true example of resilience, grace and inspiration. We began the GPLLM program at the University of Toronto together in September and shared several courses. During breaks, we would talk and laugh, often chatting in Russian, walking together, and enjoying simple moments of connection. She always radiated warmth and strength. This news is devastating and truly unbelievable. I am heartbroken to learn that she was carrying so much without ever speaking of it. It is hard to comprehend that this is real. My thoughts are with you during this incredibly painful time.
Peter Biro January 14, 2026 07:13 PM

It is an honour to have witnessed her resilience and power. She left a lasting mark on me, and I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Karina was only 40, yet her soul was old, pure, and full of light. She had a rare kindness — the kind that makes people feel seen, safe, and supported. Helping others wasn’t something she did occasionally; it was who she was, every single day. She was a strong woman who knew exactly what she wanted from life. She stood firm, honest, and brave, even when life challenged her. Karina didn’t pretend, didn’t compromise her values — she lived with intention and strength. Above all, Karina was a mother. Her two incredible girls were her whole world. She was their stone, their anchor, their protection. Everything she was — her strength, her love, her determination — lives on in them. Through her, they will always know what real love and real strength look like. Even though I couldn’t be there today, Karina is with me. In my thoughts, in my heart, in the memories I will always cherish. She leaves behind an unbearable absence, but also an everlasting presence — a legacy of love, kindness, and strength that will never fade. Karina, you were deeply loved. You will always be remembered. And you will forever live in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know you — especially in your beautiful girls. Rest in peace, dear Karina. 🤍
