Shelly will be remembered with a smile as my employer, my lawyer and a friend. I started working for Diamond and Fischman in 1973 and Shelly did some legal work for me the year before last. I always enjoyed his company and catching up on his life and family. He loved being called GUS by Bryan and Annie’s grandchildren. I’m glad he was part of my life.
Scott and Alison Pushman & family December 30, 2025 07:29 AM
Such sad news. Forty years of working with Shelly, as well as travelling and dining with him - almost every time you were with Shelly you came back with a Fischman story - great fun!
Andrea and Michael Smith December 30, 2025 02:49 AM
Dear Bryna, Arnie and family, Andrea and I are shocked at Shelly’s passing. Shelly and I being the dearest of friends for over 60+ years sharing our European travels and misadventures and with Shelly there were a lot of misadventures, our daily phone calls, his love of golf, he wouldn’t stop playing even though he couldn’t bend down to place the golf ball on the tee - he instead had me doing it for him. He had the best sense of humour and always had a new funny jokestory. His delivery was great and he delivered it with a twinkle in his eye. He was such an upbeat and happy person, never complaining not withstanding his physical challenges the past few years and was always able to laugh at himself. We will sorely miss our drinking buddy “egeszsegere” Shelly.

I am recalling some anecdotes about Shelly from my husband - the late Alan Berk - during their time as classmates and card playing friends at 0sgoode Hall Law School. Good memories. After being Called to the Bar, they both coincidentally opened their own Law Practices in 0shawa and the years flew by. Alan always spoke well of Shelly. Wishing all his loved ones sincere condolences. Regards, Frima (Barkin) Berk

shelly was a kind and gentle person. A good friend for almost 60 years. We shared many drinks always with the not to be forgotten salutation “egeszsegere”
Barry Gordon December 29, 2025 08:59 PM
We were friends since kindergarten.I have witnessed most of his accident prone incidents and received numerous of his short and punchy jokes. He is well known and loved for both.As kids on Gloucester Grove, we often wondered what roof Shelly would fall from and where and what would he trip over.Throughout, injured or not, Shelly maintained a fantastic sense of humour and demeaner. He laughed at himself while providing everybody else hours of side splitting pleasure. He was a kind warm soul.He was special. I will miss him.Never to be forgotten, my friend, Shelly Fischman.
Debbie Cooney December 29, 2025 06:03 PM

There will never be another Shelly Fischman. One of the funniest individuals, whether intentionally or unintentionally, to ever grace my family''s presence. This tragic news hit us all very hard, and then instantly brought a carousel of fond and loving memories of travel, dinners, picnics, simchas and stories that will live forever. Bryna your brother was loved and will be dearly missed.

Melanie Mitz Cohen December 29, 2025 05:33 PM
Dear Bryna and Arnie Although I have not seen Shelley in many years, I have so many stored memories of the fun that we had on Ava Road in your parents home. They are as vivid as if they happened yesterday. There was always a party when your parents went bowling. Shelley had his group which always included the Grolls and I remember opening the back doors to air out the house before your parents got home and smelt something that might have represented weed.. Some of my fondest memories of my youth… One distinct memory I have is of going to the movies where Shelley always had treats with the loudest rappers. I guess he wasn’t a popcorn guy! My heartfelt condolences on your irreplaceable loss.. Love Melanie
Fern Groll December 29, 2025 04:46 PM
I loved Shelly. Whenever I saw him or spoke to him on the phone, he made me smile. He always had a joke to tell. I always marvelled at how he could remember so many jokes. He was an usher at my wedding and we have been friends for over 50 years. I will miss him. I am very sorry for your loss.
