Born on March 12, 1940 in Toronto, he was the loving son of Daniel and Anne Cohen. Dear brother of Earl and Hersh Cohen. Mel was a devoted husband to his beloved wife and best friend Eileen for 64 wonderful years. Together they built a beautiful life for his children and grandchildren. Loving father to Michael (Karen), Darrin (Dennis), Carrie-Lynn (Gary) and Pamela (Paul). Proud Sabba of Matthew, Corey (Sophia), Austin, Noah, Zachary, Logan (Noah), Drew and Hunter.

Melvyn was an extremely dedicated Dentist, who opened up Lakeside Family Dental in 1964, upon obtaining his degree from University of Toronto.
