    Notice:
GARCEAU, Murray - Surrounded by his loving family, Murray (Avraham Moshe Ben Avraham Aveinu) passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at the age of 83, following a long and courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis which was further complicated by his recent Cancer diagnosis. He is survived by his beloved wife, best friend, and beautiful soulmate of almost 54 years, Bea Shinder Garceau. He was the son of Molly and Gaston Garceau of loving and blessed memory.

Murray will be dearly missed and forever cherished by his children: Ian and Randi Sherman, Karen Sherman Custoreri, and Andrea Sherman Bentolila and Joe Bentolila. He is survived by his loving sister, Marlene Schlotterbeck and his son, Geoffrey Garceau.

"Pops" will forever be remembered through the pride and joy he received from his eight grandchildren: Jonathan and Felicia, Jordan and Sarah, Ben and Tina, Josh and Devon, Matthew and Michelle, Adam and Felicia, Jesse and Mel, and Melissa and David, as well as through his ten great grandchildren whom he absolutely adored: Kam, Olivia, Amelia, Zoe, Sophie, Paige, Jordane, JJ, Avery, and Jake.

Murray will also be deeply missed by his "Shinder Shvesterkind" siblings, Ethel and David Malek and Zelaine Shinder. May he now rest peacefully in the comfort of his other Shvesterkind siblings, Sol, Lionel, and Leslie Shinder (z"l), as well as his in-laws, Sylvia and Harry Shinder (z"l), all of loving and blessed memory.

"Uncle Mur" was revered by all his nieces and nephews and his great nieces and nephews, always charming them with his tremendously quick wit and sense of humour.

Born in Chicoutimi, Quebec on December 28, 1942, Murray lived during his formative years in the National Capital Region. Together with Bea, always devotedly by his side, Murray leveraged his exceptional interpersonal skills to build a successful automotive paint and supply business, Master Paint Supply (MPS), before expanding his business beyond Ottawa in the early 1980's into the Greater Toronto Area. After selling MPS, Murray founded DFI Toolex before taking up early retirement to focus on family, friends, and loved ones.

In retirement, Murray and Bea loved their winter home in Florida for over 20 years and valued all the friendships they nurtured in their Fort Myers neighbourhood. They also treasured the special time spent during visits from their children and grandchildren.

The family expresses their deep and enduring gratitude to Susan Arocena, Neilia Fontanilla, Dr. Brian Berger, Dr. Alexander Khemlin, and the Staff of Mackenzie Health Richmond Hill for their loving care during Murray's courageous battle with his illnesses.

Murray will be missed far and wide by so many family members and friends, who will forever cherish him, his kindness, and his unending love. May his memory be a blessing.

In keeping with Jewish tradition, donations in Murray's memory may be made to Hill House Hospice www.hillhousehospice.com/donate, or to a cause of your choice reflecting Murray's love of family, community, and Jewish life.
