    Notice:
George Ephraim Sanders - Passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on December 31st in his ninety-ninth year. Husband of Vera for 69 years. Beloved father and father-in-law of Richard and Sari, Mitchell and Lissie, and Greg. Cherished grandfather of Alexandra and Zach, Caroline and Evan, Russell and Shari, Matthew and Ceilidh, Emily, Joshua and Madeline and special great-grandfather of Riley, Cameron and Avery.

George was born to Russian parents, Joseph and Zena in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (then part of the Soviet Union). Having left Tashkent and Russia at an early age they made their way to Tehran, Iran as a safe harbor during World War II. His mother passed away in Tehran and following that, George, his sister and father moved to Israel prior to the establishment of the State of Israel. George served as an officer in the Haganah during the 1948 War of Independence. George left Israel and moved to Montreal in 1950 where he quickly became a builder of apartments in the city of Montreal. In 1969 George, Vera, and their three sons moved to Toronto where he continued in the real estate business and lived out his life. A highly intelligent man who spoke many languages, George will be remembered for his unusual way of looking at the world from his complex background.

A special thank you to all the wonderful staff who assisted our family towards the end of his life.
